Campaign: Look for the Leaping Bunny logo next time you shop!
The BUAV has led the way in campaigning to end the suffering of animals for cosmetics testing, resulting in the UK government banning cosmetics testing on animals in 1997 and the European Union following suit in March 2013.
Despite the EU ban on animal tested cosmetics, the Leaping Bunny continues to be the only way European consumers can be sure they are buying truly ‘cruelty-free’ beauty products. The Leaping Bunny is a global standard which applies to all of the operations and sales of companies, not just those for the EU. We only certify companies that have a policy not to test their products on animals for any market anywhere in the world and so, until we achieve a global ban, we encourage everyone to shop with the Leaping Bunny.
In 2012 we launched Cruelty Free International which is using political, legal, scientific and campaigning expertise to achieve a global ban on animal testing for cosmetics and household products. Cruelty Free International has already made some great achievements globally in Brazil, Russia, Korea, China and the USA to note just a few places.
