BUAV hands in dossier of findings to the Home Office from our investigation at Imperial College London

15/04/2013

The BUAV Director of Policy, Dr Nick Palmer, has today handed in a detailed 70-page report documenting the findings of our undercover investigation at Imperial College London to Home Office Minister Lord Taylor of Holbeach.

Our seven month investigation found a catalogue of shortcomings and wrongdoing by staff and researchers at Imperial College that caused even more distress and suffering to the animals in its care than was allowed in the experiments.

The BUAV is urging the Home Secretary to set up a full independent review into the concerns raised by the report, and to remove the Establishment License of Imperial College that grants it permission to carry out animal research.

The BUAV has today also slammed the ‘independent inquiry’ set up by Imperial College London in response to our findings, to be chaired by a well-known and strong supporter of animal research from an institution that funds the College. The public is likely to see such an inquiry as a whitewash.
