Marilyn Sparks

Long standing BUAV supporter Marilyn Sparks wrote a wonderful children’s story book called M is for Monkey. This educational book - used in nurseries to support the Department of Education’s ‘Early Learning Goals’ - tells the lovely story of a little boy who befriends a monkey.

While teaching children about lies and their consequences it also introduces them, in a gentle way, to the cruelty of confining an animal to a cage.

Marilyn came up with the clever idea to raise funds by selling copies of her book to parents and children. All proceeds are generously being contributed to the BUAV’s Next of Kin campaign.

The BUAV would like to say a big thank you to Marilyn Sparks and everyone at London’s Rosemount Nursery School for the inspirational way in which they decided to fundraise for the BUAV. So far this has exceeded £1,000!

Not only will this contribution help us in our campaigning work, it also helps spread the word about the BUAV and educate the younger generation about the importance of protecting animals from abuse.

The BUAV is delighted to have support from schools, colleges, churches and youth groups. If you are involved in fundraising activities please do tell us about what you are doing – it might inspire others to get involved with the BUAV. Email support@buav.org or call us on 020 7700 4888.
