The European legislation (Directive 86/609/EEC) setting out the framework for how 12 million animals are used each year in experiments across all 27 EU Member States, is currently being revised.

Here in the UK, a House of Lords select committee is holding an inquiry into views on the draft directive, which the Government will respond to later in the year.

The BUAV has been invited to give written evidence to the committee detailing our opinions on the draft Directive.
